Blog changed

It's been a long time since my last update on this blog, which I still keep although largely untouched. This is to registered that I've changed this blog today from my 'student diary' since 2005-6 in the UK to become a commentary about my home country Thailand, a few things about it: travel (how I could leave this topic out given our obsession, or rather economically dependent on it), lifestyle, film, Phuket (my vacation home) and... a bit reluctantly politics.

Now, allow me to introduce myself:

Born, in a village of Udon Thani to a middle class family. My parents worked for the government so we were far from rich, yet we weren’t that poor. Being a government official, my father was possibly one member of those ‘old establishment’ who enjoyed quite a bit of privilege e.g. respect by villagers, be an opinion leader (although, it wouldn’t work now as my father, never a Thaksin fan, doesn’t seem successfully convince anyone who respects him to agree to that.

Educated, in a couple of state universities Silpakorn (Undergrad: English, Education Technology) and Thammasat (Grad: Journalism) and in the UK Oxford Brookes (MSc Digital Media Production).

Worked, for quite a few years with the Brits so I was often ‘labelled’ too Westernized or not Thai enough. Four years for Oxfam
, two years for HelpAge International and been over two years since I took up this current assignment for an international organization in Bangkok focusing on refugee issues. Most of my work has been related to policy and advocacy – well, it means talking politics of international development context – still, that doesn’t mean much to you, eh? What I do: ‘communicate’. :)

Interests, film (I enjoy most ‘good’ feature films), travel (I used to like it a lot, but less of a traveller after I had checked out Florence), beach (never have enough of it, and that’s why I bought a vacation home in Phuket).

More later.
